How do I get an Esso Extra card?
You have three options:
  • Click here and fill out the form to have one mailed directly to you.
  • Install the Esso Extra app on your Smart phone. Visit  essoextra.com to learn more about the Esso Extra app.
  • You may also pick up your Esso Extra card at any Esso station and start earning points immediately.  Once you get your card, click here to register your card on the Esso Extra site or install the Esso Extra app on your Smart phone. Visit essoextra.com to learn more about the Esso Extra app.
Remember, membership is FREE.

How do I know if I need to register my card? 
Click here and go through the "Create an Online Profile" process to verify that your card is registered to your name and address.  If you are unable to set up an online profile, it may be that you have not registered your card. Click here to register your card.

No, Esso Extra cards must be registered with a Canadian address.

What if I haven't used my Esso Extra card, Esso Extra app or Speedpass in a couple of months?
Points will expire after 12 consecutive months of inactivity. To avoid losing your points, remember to keep earning them on your fuel purchases.

How do I link multiple Esso Extra cards?
You can easily do this online if your cards have the same street address. First you must have a registered online account created and an online profile setup.If you don’t know if you have your account registered, use these links to get started… 
 
If you already have your account set up, follow these instructions to link your Esso Extra cards:
  1. Log in to your Esso Extra account
  2. Go to “Manage Your Account”, and select “Link with another card”
  3. Scroll down and follow the on-screen instructions.

My card is broken or lost, how do I get a replacement?
There are two ways you can replace a registered card:
  • Pick up a new card at your local Esso station to get a new card immediately, and then…
    • Logon to your account at essoextra.com
    • Select “Manage Your Account”, then select “Transfer Points to your New Card”
    • Follow the steps on that page to complete the transfer
  • Order a replacement card online and receive it in 2-4 weeks:
    • Logon to your account at essoextra.com
    • Select “Manage Your Account”, then select “Request a New Card”
    • Confirm your address and submit

Since my Esso Extra account is linked to a family member's Esso Extra account, can we use the same email address to create an online profile?
No. Only one email address may be used per online profile. Click the "Create an Online Profile" link to create an account using a different email address.

Why do I receive an error message when I attempt to log in?
Your error message could be triggered by any of the following: 
 
You might not have an online profile created. Click on the "Forgotten Password" or the "Forgotten Email" link and follow the instructions. 

You may be using an incorrect email address and/or password. You can confirm this by clicking on the "Forgotten Password" or the "Forgotten Email" link and following the instructions. 

If you have not used your Esso Extra card in the last 12 months your card may be inactive. You will need to reactivate it by using it at an Esso station.

Can I change the registered cardholder's name?
Yes, but you can only change your last name after you have registered your card and created an online profile. To change your last name log on to essoextra.com with your email address and password and go to the "Manage Your Account" section to make changes to your account information.
Yes, you can also install the Esso Extra app on your Smart phone and make changes to your account. Open the Esso Extra app, click on the menu (on the top left hand corner), go to Account settings and make your changes. Visit  essoextra.com to learn more about the Esso Extra app.

Can I use a post office box number or abbreviations when registering my card?
Yes. However, rewards cannot be shipped to P.O Box numbers. Please use your street address to ensure your rewards are properly delivered.

How do I find out how many Esso Extra points I have?
There are several ways that you can get your points balance.

  • You can find your points total on each purchase receipt
  • You can check your points total by logging on to your account via the Esso Extra app.

When do I start earning points?
Immediately. The first time you swipe your Esso Extra card, use the Esso Extra app or use your Speedpass linked to Esso Extra at Esso stations, you will earn 1 or more points for every eligible‡ dollar you spend.

Is there a minimum purchase to earn Esso Extra points?
Yes, with the Esso Extra card, the minimum purchase for gas or any eligible‡ purchase at an Esso station is $1.00, including taxes.

Do I earn the same number of points for all grades of Esso gas?
No, there are different levels of points available:

Fuel Grade Points Multiplier
Regular 1 points per eligible‡ dollar
Extra 2 points per eligible‡ dollar
Supreme 3 points per eligible‡ dollarv

What is the difference between 'available points' and 'points earned this purchase'?
'Available Points' are points that can be used immediately. And 'Points Earned this Purchase' are points that won't be available for use for the next 72 hours (3 days).

How do I redeem my Esso Extra points online?
To redeem online, log onto your account at essoextra.com and click the "Redeem Rewards" link on the navigation bar above. From here you can view the online rewards, at-the-station rewards, or donate your rewards.

For online rewards:
  1. Choose the reward you would like to redeem, click “Redeem Now”
  2. Select an amount and hit the “Place My Orders” button
  3. Verify your order and address on the confirmation page.

I forgot to swipe my Esso Extra card on my last visit; can I still get my points?
Your card must be present and swiped at the time of purchase to be able to collect your points. To prevent this from happening in the future, you can link your Esso Extra loyalty card to other programs such as the Esso Extra app, Speedpass, and Speedpass+. When you do this, you no longer need to swipe your card to collect your points.

How do I redeem my Esso Extra points via the Esso Extra mobile app?
To redeem via the Esso Extra app, install the Esso Extra app on your smart phone and login to your account. Go to “Rewards” and view the “Available” rewards:
  1. Choose the reward you would like to redeem and tap “Redeem Now”
  2. Select quantity and tap the “Place My Orders” button
  3. Verify your order and address on the confirmation page.
  4. Tap “Redeem now”
  5. Your order will be confirmed and you will receive your gift card in 3-5 weeks

When am I able to use my points after I have transferred points from one card to another?
Online rewards may be redeemed immediately.  Please allow up to 72 hours before attempting to make redemptions in-store.

What should I do with my old card after I transfer my points and profile to a new card?
The old card is no longer valid once the points have been transferred and can be destroyed immediately.

No, you can only transfer points to cards that are registered with the same name and address.

When you have two or more Esso Extra cards in your name, you can consolidate all of your points onto one card (for example, lost, damaged or demagnetized cards, or if you have picked up an additional card)

No, Esso Extra points have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash or credit.

Where can I find my Speedpass member number?
Your Speedpass member number can be found engraved on the side of your Speedpass key tag. Please note, you will need to enter all of the letters and digits e.g.: A00000000.  If the number on the key tag is worn off, you can find this when you sign login to your Speedpass account.  Click here to login.

When setting up my online profile, I'm prompted for my Esso member number. Where do I find this if I only have a Speedpass?
Simply enter the number engraved on the side of your Speedpass key tag. Please note you will need to enter all of the letters and digits e.g.: A00000000.
