How do I get an Esso Extra card?
You have three options:
  • Click here and fill out the form to have one mailed directly to you.
  • Install the Esso Extra app on your smart phone. Visit essoextra.com to learn more about the Esso Extra app.
  • You may also pick up your Esso Extra card at any EssoTM station and start earning points immediately.  Once you get your card, click here to register your card on the Esso Extra site or install the Esso Extra app on your smart phone. Visit essoextra.com to learn more about the Esso Extra app.

Why should I register my Esso Extra card when it earns points with every swipe?

Only registered cards can redeem for Esso Extra rewards at the site or online. And your card must be registered to create an online profile.

How do I know if I need to register my card?

Go through the "Create an Online Profile" process on the Esso Extra website to verify that your card is registered to your name and address. If you are unable to set up an online profile, it may be that you have not registered your card. Click on the "Register Your Card" link to register your card.

Since my Esso Extra account is linked to a family member's Esso Extra account, can we use the same email address to create an online profile?

No. There can only be one online profile per email address. Click on the "Create an Online Profile" link to create an account using a different email address.

Why do I receive an error message when I attempt to log in?

Your error message could be triggered by any of the following:
You may not have created an online profile. Click on the "Forgotten Password" or "Forgotten Email" link and follow the instructions.

If you have not used your Esso Extra card in the last 12 months your card may be inactive. You will need to reactivate it by using it at an Esso station.

Is your Esso Extra account linked with your family's Esso Extra accounts? If so, has one of your family members set up their online profile and used the same email address? If so, you will need to use another email address to set up your online profile. Email addresses can only be used for one account.

Can I change the registered cardholder's name?

No, but you can change your last name after you have registered your card and created an online profile. Simply log on to essoextra.com with your email address and password and go to the "Manage Your Account" section to make changes to your account information.

I am collecting points. Does this mean my card is already registered?

No, you continue to collect points even if your card is not yet registered but your card must be registered in order to redeem for rewards.

Can I use a post office box number or abbreviations when registering my card?

Please spell out the entire address (this ensures items redeemed are shipped to the correct address and avoid shipping delays). Rewards cannot be shipped to PO Box numbers.

Can I still accumulate points without registering my card?

You can accumulate points, however, you are not able to redeem rewards or log into essoextra.com to manage your account online until your card is registered.

When do I start earning points?

Immediately. The first time you swipe your Esso Extra card, use the Esso Extra app or use your SpeedpassTM key tag or Speedpass+TM app linked to Esso Extra at Esso stations, you will earn 1 or more points for every eligible* dollar you spend.

Is there a minimum purchase to earn Esso Extra points?

Yes, with the Esso Extra card, the minimum purchase for gas or any eligible* purchase at an Esso station is $1.00, including taxes.

Do I earn the same number of points for all grades of Synergy gas?
No, there are different levels of points available:

Fuel Grade Points Multiplier
Regular 1 points per eligible* dollar
Extra 2 points per eligible* dollar
Supreme 3 points per eligible* dollar
SUPREME+ (if available) 4 points per eligible* dollar

How can I earn more Esso Extra points?
You will earn additional points for higher-octane fuel, see the table below for information.

You can also group your points into a joint account with other Esso Extra members to earn rewards faster. How do I redeem my Esso Extra points online?

To redeem online, log onto your account at essoextra.com and click the "Redeem Rewards" link on the navigation bar above. Choose the reward you would like to redeem and select your quantity. Once you hit the submit button, you will see a confirmation page confirming your reward order.

I forgot to swipe my Esso Extra card on my last visit; can I still get my points?
Your card must be present and swiped at the time of purchase to be able to collect your points. To prevent this from happening in the future, you can link your Esso Extra loyalty card to other programs such as the Esso Extra app or Speedpass+ app. When you do this, you no longer need to swipe your card to collect your points.

How do I redeem my Esso Extra points via the Esso Extra mobile app?
To redeem via the Esso Extra app, install the Esso Extra app on your smart phone and login to your account. Go to “Rewards” and view the “Available” rewards:
  1. Choose the reward you would like to redeem and tap “Redeem Now”
  2. Select quantity and tap the “Place My Orders” button
  3. Verify your order and address on the confirmation page.
  4. Tap “Redeem now”
  5. Your order will be confirmed and you will receive your gift card in 3-5 weeks

What if I didn’t receive my e-Gift card by email?

Please check your Junk/Spam folder if your confirmation email and/or e-Gift card email did not appear in your Inbox. To prevent this from happening in the future, please add noreply@essoextra.com to your address book to ensure your e-Gift card is successfully delivered and not marked as spam.

You can only transfer points to cards that are registered to the same person with the same address. You can however link your card with another customer's card by filling out the form which can be found online. Why should I transfer my points to my other card?
When you have two or more Esso Extra cards in your name, you can consolidate all of your points onto one card (for example, lost, damaged or demagnetized cards, or if you have picked up an additional card)

Can I convert my points into cash?
No, Esso Extra points have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash or credit. Points can only be redeemed for Esso Extra rewards.
