Why are you ending the Esso Extra program?
As PC Optimum™ redemption at Esso stations launches, the Esso Extra program will end on January 17, 2022.

The PC Optimum™ program offers Esso Extra members the opportunity to earn points in more places and provides greater flexibility in redeeming for free stuff, including fuel and car washes at Esso stations beginning January 18, 2022. PC Optimum™ points earned at Esso stations can also be redeemed for eligible products at over 2,500 locations of Loblaw banner grocery stores and Shoppers Drug Mart stores across the country including Real Canadian Superstore, Atlantic Superstore, City Market, No Frills, Independent, Zehrs, Loblaws, Shoppers Home Health Care and online at Loblaw-owned grocery websites, joefresh.com and shop.shoppersdrugmart.ca.

I am an Esso Extra member, how does this announcement impact me?

  • The Esso Extra program will end effective January 17, 2022.
  • You can continue to earn and redeem your Esso Extra points at Esso stations and participating Mobil™ stations until January 17, 2022 at 11:59:59 p.m. local time
  • Beginning January 18, 2022, you will no longer be able to earn or redeem Esso Extra points.
  • From January 18, 2022 to April 30, 2022, you will be able to convert your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points* at Esso stations.

*Conditions apply. If you have not already done so, you must register your Esso Extra card on essoextra.com in order to be eligible for points conversion. Your account must also be in good standing. If you are in a joint account you must be a Master Member or Authorized Redeemer to convert your points. To protect your points, you may need to show a government-issued photo ID that matches the information on your Esso Extra profile when you convert your Esso Extra points at a station. For more details, visit the Esso Extra program Privacy Policy. To convert your points online, you must also be able to log-in to your online account at essoextra.com.

Can I still use my Esso Extra card?
Beginning January 18, 2022, you will no longer be able to use your Esso Extra card to earn or redeem Esso Extra points. However, you will be able to use your Esso Extra card to convert your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points from January 18, 2022 to April 30, 2022.

What will happen to the points in my Esso Extra account when the program ends?
From January 18, 2022 to April 30, 2022 you can convert your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points. If you do not convert your points during this time, your Esso Extra points balance will no longer be available at 11:59:59 p.m. local time on April 30, 2022, you will no longer be able to convert your points, and will therefore lose the value of your Esso Extra points.

What should I do with my Esso Extra card?
If you plan to convert your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points from January 18, 2022 to April 30, 2022, please keep your Esso Extra card until your points have been converted. Once the PC Optimum™ points balance has been updated, you can securely destroy your Esso Extra card.

I lost my Esso Extra card, how do I replace it?
If you have lost your Esso Extra card and need to replace it, “Request a New Card” on essoextra.com. You must have an online account to request a new card online. Card replacement will be available until April 1, 2022.

Please note that it can take approximately four weeks for your replacement card to arrive in the mail. If you have your Esso Extra card number you can add it to the Speedpass+ app so you can use a digital version of your card to earn points while you wait for the plastic card to arrive in the mail.

Can I still enrol in the Esso Extra program?
Beginning on June 17, 2021 you can no longer enrol in the Esso Extra program.

Can I still register my Esso Extra card?
Yes, if you have an Esso Extra card, you can register it by clicking on the "Register Your Card" link on the homepage of essoextra.com until April 30, 2022. You must register your card in order to convert your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points from January 18, 2022 to April 30, 2022.

Can my Esso Extra card be registered with an address outside Canada?
No, unfortunately Esso Extra cards must be registered with a Canadian address.

Can I still create an online Esso Extra account?
Yes, you can create an online Esso Extra account until April 30, 2022 by visiting this link. Your card must be registered before creating an online profile. By creating an online Esso Extra account, you can update your account information, check your points balance or transaction history and convert your points online.

Please note, you will no longer be able to create an online account once you converted your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum points. If you would like to update your profile information after you have converted your points, please contact our consumer care department at 1 800-567-3446 (Monday to Friday 9am to 7pm EST).

What will happen to my Speedpass+ account?
Your Speedpass+ account will not be affected when the Esso Extra program ends. If you have an Esso Extra card linked to your Speedpass+ app, you can continue to earn Esso Extra points with the Speedpass+ app until January 17, 2022 at 11:59:59 p.m. local time. You can also add your PC Optimum™ card to the Speedpass+ app to earn PC Optimum™ points.

Can I convert my Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points with the Speedpass+ app?
If you have added an Esso Extra card to the Speedpass+ app, your Esso Extra card barcode will still be available in the Speedpass+ app until April 30, 2022 at 11:59:59 p.m. local time. You can use this barcode to convert your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points.

What will happen to the Esso Extra app?
The Esso Extra app will retire on January 17, 2022.

I have added cards (Esso Extra, Price Privileges™, Extra Privileges or Esso and Mobil Gift Card) to the Esso Extra app. What will happen to these cards when the Esso Extra app retires?
When the Esso Extra app retires you will no longer be able to access these cards through the app. We sent Esso Extra app members an email that includes a link to a digital copy of your Esso Extra and Extra Privileges card along with any Price Privileges and/or Esso and Mobil Gift Cards that you have added to the Esso Extra app. You can download the digital copy of these cards and keep them in a safe place.

Will Imperial continue to send me marketing emails after the Esso Extra program ends?
If your communication preference is set to “I agree to receive electronic updates, information and offers from Imperial Oil” Imperial will continue to send marketing emails about the Esso and Mobil brands. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of emails sent by Imperial.

Please note, if you are a Speedpass+ member, marketing communications preference and language preference you make to your Esso Extra profile will also reflect in your Speedpass+ profile and vice versa (if you have onboarded your Esso Extra card into Speedpass+).

If you unsubscribe from an email received from Esso and Mobil Canada, you are opting out of all communications from Imperial including Speepdass+ communications and vice versa.

I am an Esso Extra and EXTRA PRIVILEGES member and I saw that Esso Extra was ending at an Esso station and online, but have not received any direct communication.
A communication was sent to active Esso Extra members with an email address on file on June 17, 2021. If you would like to view the communication sent to Esso Extra members with an email address on file, visit this link. If you are also a member of the EXTRA PRIVILEGES program, visit this link for the communication that was sent to EXTRA PRIVILEGES members on June 17, 2021 about that program ending.

To ensure you receive future emails, we encourage you to register your card and create an online profile to add an email address to your account.

What will happen to the EXTRA PRIVILEGES program?
The EXTRA PRIVILEGES program will end on January 17, 2022 at 11:59:59 p.m. local time. That means you will no longer be able to accept and complete personalized offers effective January 18, 2022 at 12:00:00 a.m. local time. Offers will continue to be sent until December 19, 2021. All offers sent to program participants will continue to be valid until the date indicated in the original offer.

What will happen to the litres on my EXTRA PRIVILEGES card?
Your EXTRA PRIVILEGES card has been extended to December 31, 2022. Any litres earned on or prior to January 17, 2022 can be used until December 31, 2022. You can continue to use available litres on your EXTRA PRIVILEGES card until December 31, 2022 regardless of the expiry date on the card. After December 31, 2022 any remaining litres on your EXTRA PRIVILEGES card will expire.

How can I check the balance on my EXTRA PRIVILEGES card?
At any time you can check the balance on your EXTRA PRIVILEGES card using this link: https://giftcards.esso.ca/balance

I lost my EXTRA PRIVILEGES card, how do I replace it?

Can I enrol in the EXTRA PRIVILEGES program?
Beginning on June 17, 2021 you can no longer enrol online in the EXTRA PRIVILEGES program.

When can I convert my Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points?
From January 18, 2022 to April 30, 2022 you can convert your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points.

Points conversion in-store will end on April 30, 2022 at 11:59:59 p.m. local time. Please check your station’s operating hours as they may close earlier on April 30, 2022.

Points conversion online at essoextra.com will end on April 30 at 11:59:59 p.m. pacific time.

If you have not taken positive steps to convert* your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points on or before April 30, 2022, you will no longer be able to convert your points, and will therefore lose the value of your Esso Extra points.

Will I be able to convert a portion of my Esso Extra points balance to PC Optimum™ points?
You can only convert your entire points balance (as of January 18, 2022). Your points balance does not include any points that may have expired.

How do I convert my Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points?
There are two options to convert your Esso Extra to PC Optimum™ points:

  1. Log-in to your online account at essoextra.com
  2. Go in-store at an Esso station and present your Esso Extra card to the station attendant

If I am converting my points in-store, what loyalty methods can I present?
When you are asked for the Esso Extra account that you would like to transfer the points from, you can use the following loyalty methods:

  • Esso Extra plastic card
  • Esso Extra card barcode (from Speedpass+™ app)
  • Esso Extra card linked to Speedpass™ key tag (points conversion with Speedpass key tag must be attached to a purchase)

When you are asked for the PC Optimum loyalty account where you would like to transfer your points, you can use the following loyalty methods:

  • PC Optimum™ plastic card
  • PC Optimum™ plastic key fob
  • PC Optimum™ card barcode (from Speedpass+™app or PC Optimum™ app)
  • PC® Mastercard®
  • PC Money™ Account card

I am already a PC Optimum™ member, can I convert my Esso Extra points to my existing account?
Yes.

If you are converting your points online at essoextra.com, log-in to your existing PCid when prompted.

If you are converting your points in-store, use your own PC Optimum card, plastic key fob or barcode when prompted.

I am a PC® Mastercard® or PC Money™ accountholder, can I convert my Esso Extra points to my existing account?
Yes.

If you are converting your points online at essoextra.com, log-in to your PCid associated with your PC® Mastercard® or PC Money™ Account when prompted.

If you are converting your points in-store, use your PC® Mastercard® or PC Money™ Account card when prompted.

How many PC Optimum™ points will I have when I convert my Esso Extra points?
You will receive 6 PC Optimum™ points for every 1 Esso Extra point you convert. For example, if your Esso Extra points balance is 1,800 points, that will convert to 10,800 PC Optimum™ points.

What value am I getting for my Esso Extra points?
The Esso Extra to PC Optimum™ point conversion rate is based on the redeemable value of your Esso Extra points, not the earn rate of each program. The rate is roughly based on $10 of free gas using Esso Extra points (1,800 Esso Extra points) equaling a $10 value of PC Optimum™ points. Therefore, the conversion of Esso Extra to PC Optimum™ points is 1 Esso Extra point converts into 6 PC Optimum™ points.

Am I getting the same value if I redeem my PC Optimum™ points at Esso stations than I would if I redeemed my PC Optimum™ points at Shoppers Drug Mart or PC Optimum™ participating grocery stores?
Yes. The redemption options that will be available at Esso stations on January 18, 2022, allow you to receive at least the same value by redeeming PC Optimum™ points at Esso stations as you would when redeeming PC Optimum™ points at Shoppers Drug Mart or PC Optimum™ participating grocery stores.

Where can I find my Esso Extra points balance?
You can check your points balance by logging on to your essoextra.com account.

Do I have to be a PC Optimum™ member in order to convert my Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points?
Yes, to convert your points in-store you will need a PC Optimum™ card. You can ask your Esso station attendant for a free PC Optimum™ card if you don’t have one.

You can also download the free PC Optimum™ app and create an account. Or pick up a free PC Optimum™ card in store (available at participating Esso and Mobil stations, PC Optimum™ affiliated grocery stores, Shoppers Drug Mart locations) and register your card online through the PC Optimum™ app or at pcoptimum.ca.

I’m not a PC Optimum™ member, how do I enrol?
Download the free PC Optimum™ app and create an account. Or pick up a free PC Optimum™ card in store (available at participating Esso and Mobil stations, PC Optimum™ affiliated grocery stores, Shoppers Drug Mart locations) and register your card online through the PC Optimum™ app or at pcoptimum.ca.

Do I have to convert my Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points?
You do not have to convert your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points. However, if you have not taken positive steps to convert your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points on or before April 30, 2022, you will no longer be able to convert your points, and will therefore lose the value of your Esso Extra points.

Can I convert Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points via points.com?
Esso Extra points cannot be converted to PC Optimum™ points using points.com.

Are there any restrictions on converting your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points?

  • You must be a PC Optimum™ member in order to convert your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points. If you’re not a PC Optimum™ member, download the free PC Optimum™ app and create an account. Or pick up a free PC Optimum™ card in store (available at participating Esso and Mobil stations, PC Optimum™ affiliated grocery stores, Shoppers Drug Mart locations) and register your card online through the PC Optimum™ app or at pcoptimum.ca.
  • You must register your Esso Extra card on essoextra.com in order to be eligible for points conversion.

I am in an Esso Extra household with multiple Esso Extra accounts linked together. How will my Esso Extra points be converted to PC Optimum™?
If you are in a joint account you must be a Master Member or Authorized Redeemer to convert your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points.

I am in an Esso Extra household with multiple Esso Extra accounts linked together. How many Esso Extra points will I be able to convert to PC Optimum™ points?
If you are in a joint account with a shared points balance, the Master Member and Authorized Redeemers will be able to convert the entire group’s Esso Extra points balance to PC Optimum™ points.

Can I convert my Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points at Mobil stations?
If you are converting your points in-person you can only convert your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum™ points at Esso stations.

I received an email stating my Esso Extra points have been converted to PC Optimum™ points, but I did not take that action. What should I do?
Please contact us as soon as possible at 1 800 567-3776 and have your Esso Extra account number ready.

I used the wrong PC Optimum™ card to convert my points. Can I reverse the points conversion and try again?
After your Esso Extra points have been converted to PC Optimum™ points, there is no option to reverse the conversion. Visit pcoptimum.ca to transfer your points to another member or link your PC Optimum™ account with other PC Optimum™ members to create a household.

I am an Esso Extra member that would like to join the PC Optimum™ program. Do I have to shop at a PC Optimum™ participating grocery store and/or Shoppers Drug Mart to benefit from the PC Optimum™ program?
By joining the PC Optimum™ program, Esso Extra members can earn PC Optimum™ points on fuel, eligible convenience store, and car wash purchases at Esso stations and, beginning on January 18, 2022, can redeem PC Optimum™ points at Esso locations for fuel and car wash rewards More information on redeeming PC Optimum™ points at Esso stations will be provided on or just prior to January 18, 2022.

Although you don’t need to shop at PC Optimum™ participating grocery stores and/or Shoppers Drug Mart locations to earn and redeem PC Optimum™ points at Esso stations, you can earn points faster by shopping fuel + heath^ & beauty + groceries.

^PC Optimum™ points cannot be earned or redeemed on pharmacy-related products and services including prescriptions, medications, other pharmacy or health care-related products or services where prohibited by law, regulation, policy, or prescription drug plans.
