The refining process:
- Separate crude oil into its basic components
- Convert the components into different products
- Blend the products to meet consumers’ needs

Our Dartmouth refinery was the first in Atlantic Canada. It began operating in 1918 during the First World War.

Imperial's Nanticoke refinery is located on the northern shore of Lake Erie, about 40 kilometres outside Hamilton, Ontario.

Our Sarnia manufacturing site is the most integrated of its kind in Canada -- it's a refinery, chemical manufacturing plant, and petroleum research facility.

Imperial's Strathcona refinery, located on the outskirts of Edmonton, Alberta, is one of the largest refining facilities in Canada.
