Workplace security
Our approach
Imperial Oil has programs and measures in place to provide security to protect people, operations, facilities, business information and other assets. We are dedicated to preventing incidents and have a full range of response and contingency plans with appropriate local, provincial and federal agencies.
What we are doing
In 2009, we continued to improve these programs and measures and further integrated them into OIMS. Enhanced awareness further supported our objective of “Security Is Everybody’s Business” to ensure the safety and security of all employees and contractors. Security is an ongoing activity at our facilities, from production to large petrochemical and refining complexes, office buildings and computer systems, and transportation systems such as pipelines. There are about 45 site security contacts who liaise with two national security advisers at Imperial. These advisers are responsible for conducting security risk assessments and ensuring incidents are investigated for the various businesses across the country.
